Game on! (Part 2)

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Join in on the fun! This two‐part workshop on “deconstructed gamification” will have you seeing gameplay through a whole new lens! Together, we will explore how off‐the‐shelf games can be used to highlight, challenge, develop, and reinforce those tricky, social‐emotional skills that are absolutely vital to fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, collaboration, and positive change that our society desperately desires to see in the modern workplace.
One of the most challenging aspects of organizational training is keeping your participants fully engaged. This is even tougher to accomplish when you’re tasked with teaching intangible, affective skills that are not easily practiced and highlighted in more “traditional” methods of training. While “Death-by-PowerPoint,” “Click‐to‐Complete” virtual instruction, and Sage‐on‐the‐Stage methods of organizational training are easy for “checking the box,” they’re hardly the most impactful and effective means for improving organizational skills and culture.
No matter where you work, you can use the core principles of gamification to immediately impact your organization. It’s time to clear the table and bust out the family game collection…because it’s game time!
If you’re feeling up to the challenge, join us for Part 2: Level Up! where you will have the opportunity to compete in creating your very own game (as a team)! Everyone will have a universal set of “starting equipment,” but there are multiple sets of “legendary items” available to players who accumulated points and advantages during side quests in Part 1 and throughout Part 2. The winning team of the game design challenge will receive a reward at the end of the workshop, as well as bragging rights for the duration of the conference.
